Snowing in Mundesley 2013

At the weekend it started snowing for the first time this year at the cottage in Mundesley, all gone on Monday morning. Monday afternoon was a different story though, traffic was terrible as the roads iced up and became covered in snow. Schools closed and there was even snow on the beach. The Mundesley Lifeboat webcam below shows just how cold and snowy it is today.

Yes that is snow covering the beach - not white sand!

Mundesley Beach brilliant sunshine

There is brilliant sunshine here in Mundesley today, a great opportunity for a brisk walk along the beach. With the tide on its way out I could see as far as the Happisburgh lighthouse and even, in the distance, the wind turbines at Sheringham, glistening and gleaming in the midday sun. The sand is still very high covering up most of the wooden breakers, I hope it stays this way for our guests in the Summer so that the little ones have plenty of good soft sand to dig around in.

Cromer Church lighting up the sky

When we were in Cromer at the weekend we noticed a powerful laser light on top of the Church Tower. I'm not sure if it was for Christmas or more permanent but it was certainly a topic of conversation especially with the children.

The Church tower in Cromer is the highest in Norfolk and if you get the chance do climb up the 171 steps to enjoy the spectacular and literally breathtaking  view. The tower is open from Easter until the end of September.

Cromer Crab Pot Christmas Tree

The wonderful crab pot Cromer town Christmas tree was still up at the weekend but unfortunately not lit up that evening. A twist on Christmas, this tree was made by local fishermen out of crab pots and plastic buoys  We all gave it the thumbs up!

This photograph is from the North Norfolk News and the article is good too!

Holiday by the sea in Mundesley North Norfolk

Its January the 1st and time to decide on that important week away from it all or short break to the North Norfolk coast.

Mundesley, nestled between Cromer and Happisburgh, is a lovely, quiet unspoiled village on the Norfolk coast. The Blue Flag sandy beach stretches for miles and is popular with Sunday morning walkers as well as families in the Summer months. In the past, as well as the Sunday Mundesley lifeboat training, we have seen seals floating close to the shore keeping pace with the walkers.
